It is time to vote out the BN gomen. The Penans had been betrayed by their own gomen. Sarawak is a rich state - rich in natural resources like petroleum, timber etc. It is disheartening to see them being exploited and neglected. Recently we even heard the Penans were suffering from food shortage, but only received help from NGOs!

WE ARE ALL AISHA. WE SHOULD PUT A STOP TO THIS.

Aisha was a 13 years old girl, who was stoned to death on the 27th of October this2008 in Somalia. This is just a one of the million inhumanity committed against women in the name of Islam in Somalia and other countries where Islam and Sheria is practiced.

What makes this an embarrassing issue is the fact that Aisha was only 13 year old! And that she was raped, as if that was not enough stoned to death. What was done to Aisha was done to women throughout in the Islamic society through generation, isn’t it time to say ENOUGH? As a woman I am ashamed of my religion and as a Somali I have no words to describe the indignant crime committed against this child.

I therefore call upon all Muslims woman to stands up and say NO MORE to this. NO MORE abuse, discrimination, violation and mutilation. Not of cause forgetting all the millions of barbaric actions committed against us just because we were born women.

I personally condemn de disgraceful death of Aisha May God rest your soul in peace, Your died in the hands of blood thirsty men who call themselves Muslims.

We will not forget you Aisha, and we will fight for this never to happen again.

Join me all, and remember that WE ARE ALL AISHA. WE SHOULD PUT A STOP TO THIS.

Ashia Ismail Hussein
Save a Girl Save a Generation.

Thank you so much for your comments. We in Malaysia are simply outraged and appalled by the stoning of this young girl. I hope all the pepertrators are caught and punished for this barbaric and gruesome act.

To those who may concern...
Is better not to give comment if u only understand this by reading n hearing this from the media, thing's can get worse by wrongly commented.
I'm one of the logger at ulu baram. so, i can claim that i understand more about this case.
Recently, i just meet one of the penan leader and his people from lubang, i ask him what is his comment about this case, he told me, people now are so different then the old days, people now can turn things around b'coz of own interest, so as them(penan) also, he said, he did not heard of any penan been raped when they ( penan leader from different settlement) meet with each other. i ask them how is their relationship with the logger., he said, they have very good relationship with logger so as others. and i ask his comment about the logger teach n give alcohol drink to their youngest., he said, drinking alcohol drink started from their grand-grand father, no need to learn from others. and he said, kalau sendiri mau buat, jangan sallah kan orang, susah orang sekarang, he also said, few of the penan leader from different settiement had been used by the BMF to disturb the peace among them. lastly, he said, Tuhan tahu apa yang dia orang buat.......

The plight of indigenous peoples, including the Penan, always seems to get short-shifted by the world media and by general human rights awareness groups. What is even worse is that Westerners are the ones causing the destruction of the forest, yet have the money to make a difference. I stand in solidarity with the Penan. I'll send out letters this weekend.
Thank you very much. Truly appreciate that.

Isn't it sad! This article is one day old and no-one has posted a comment. Makes you think no-one cares, right? Maybe no-one does. Thanks to Dr M and his culture of "if you dare to speak I'll cut you off at the knees" Malaysians are reticent about speaking for anyone that doesn't directly affect their life-style. It is also sad that most of the Peninsula Malaysians don't care about the tribes in East Malaysia or their forest. Or the forest here as well. I am continually disappointed by folk here not knowing or caring about our disappearing forest. When I invite them to join me to take in some of this beauty, they are invariably afraid. They think (like a lot of older people) that it contains lots of evil creatures and ghosts. It's time Malaysia debunked all these stupid superstitions and the best way to do this is by television. We should be running programmes on our spectacular rivers and forests. Our indigenous tribes. Our unique wildlife. Where is all this information? We need a wide-spread campaign to tell Malaysians, this is your country, it's beautiful, it's unique, it's worth fighting for. I once watched an hour's programme of a small section of a river bank in England. It was fascinating. If the BBC can do that for a tiny piece of river, why can't Malaysian film makers in co-operation with the MNS (for example) do the same for this country?
